Hannah Montana tickets!

Hannah Montana star, Miley Cyrus, appeared on the Ellen DeGeneres Show last Thursday to address the scalpers who are selling expensive tickets to her widely popular BEST OF BOTH WORLDS concert tour. How expensive? Scalpers are asking up to $4,500 for the tickets!!! Ticket trackers are saying that tickets for the Miley Cyrus show (which also features the pop rock group The Jonas Brothers) were sold out in as little as four minutes! You’d think that the tickets reached all the young girls who wanted to watch the talented Disney star. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case. Parents have so far voiced their displeasure over the scalpers, and asked the camp of Miley Cyrus to address the issue. In response, the teen actress says, “It’s going to be a good show, but I don’t think it’s worth what it’s going for. [But] for the people that do get to come, I’m going to make it the best show ever.”
.
But don’t fret moms and dads, tickets for Hannah Montana at the Houston Rodeo show is still available, and definitely cheaper than the ones sold by scalpers! So if your child is a BIG Hanah Montana fan, don’t disappoint her. Grab a ticket now! At least, in the Houston Rodeo, there’d be adult stuff you can watch aside from the Miley/Hannah tween show =)

HD clips up for grabs!

Oh man, I love HD! If you don’t know what HD is, it means high definition (not hidden desire, lol). If you watched nature or travel channels recently, you would sometimes notice a mark “HDTV” on their shows, and I just bet you loved the crispness of their documentaries. And that’s what HDTV is all about – bringing greater resolution to digital television broadcasting system than the traditional television systems. So good! Anyway, I stumbled on a site that sells HD Professional Stock Videos. There are no royalties to be paid, you just pay one time for an HD video and it’s yours for whatever purpose you have in mind. But the thing I love in AlwaysHD.com (the site we’re talking about, lol) is their FREE HD clips, woohoo! I can just collect all of their clips and maybe make an HD movie out of it. I just love freebies man! =)

The People's Champ!

Pacquiao
Manny Pacquiao wins over Marco Antonio Barrera again! I'm sure Filipinos all over the world are celebrating right now :-) It was a one-sided fight, with Pacman as the aggressor and Barrera just trying to survive; he was nearly knocked out in round 11 though.Ü Sorry for the low quality of this pic, its just a tv screen capture via my SE k800i camfon. Anyway, gonna watch Pacman's funny interviews here so tata for now! And MABUHAY ANG PILIPINAS!Ü

basement plans

I posted awhile back that our basement is nearing completion, and that half of it would be my father's "office". The other half we planned to make the family's recreation room. We are planning to put up a home theater system with the widest flatscreen TV we can afford. Hehe! It was my mother's dream to have a really big TV screen. Perhaps to aid her and Papa's failing eyes while watching TV, lol =) Anyway, just imagine watching TV shows with screen this WIDE --

WOW!!! The TV is even bigger than me, lol! If I were watching a travel show featuring an exotic place, with the screen this big, I know I'd feel that I'm in the exotic place too. Damn, it's like virtual reality man! Hehe!

Critics Rant!

In this blog, I do occasional movie reviews and even reviews of computers games I tried, especially if I like the movie or game. I almost never do a “real” critic coz I just blog about the movies I liked and not the movies I watched but did not like. Also my reviews are once in a while thing. If you need a comprehensive review of movies, tv shows and games, you can go to CriticsRants.com =)

Critics Rant! movies with attitude” is a movie, tv show and video games review site. You can come the site and talk about your favorites movies and tv shows. You can even win DVDs just by giving your opinion! Or by signing up for the Daily Rant! Newsletter. The DVD Give-Away is done daily, very generous of Critics Rant if I may say so =) So, if you like doing movie or show reviews, be a part of CriticsRant.com – you might even become the favorite critic there! Lol!

TiVo!

I’m sure you’ve heard of Tivo, that awesome piece of machine that automatically finds and digitally records all of your favorite shows, every time they're on If you haven’t got one, this Christmas season is the best time to buy one at AbtElectronics.com =) This retailer of quality consumer electronics and appliances is different from other online retailers coz they offer you the ability to shop for all your appliance and electronic product needs in one online store. No need to jump from one online store to another. Also they offer FREE tech support. Yup, you read that right, free! And we all love freebies don’t we? Hehe! If you have time, do browse their site. They’ve got loads of appliances and electronics at reasonable prices. Happy shopping! =)

fun tv ads!

I was not a TV addict when I was in college. Probably because I lived in a dorm where too many people crowd at the TV. And I don't like that kind of environment. Call me picky or "suplada", but I'm not just made for socializing. Hehe! :p Anyway, when I was in medical school, my TV life had a turnaround. I became addicted to koreanovelas and what-nots. Probably it was an escape from the seriousness of medicine. Watching the "bobo" tube doesn't require brainwork, thank god!
.
Anyway, one of the cool things I noticed on TV over the years was that the television advertisements were getting funnier. Some were so clever that they made a mark. Remember Lumen of the Surf soap ads? Or perhaps Tolits of Tide? Recently, I found the Coke ad involving GTA characters so cool! If you don't know GTA, get a life dude! Lol! Other ads I found sooo funny was the new VCO shampoo and conditioner ads. If you haven't seen it, you're missing a lot of laughs! =) Advertising agencies are certainly getting more creative and more clever in selling products these days. Go guys! Make my day! Hehe!

a musing on celebrity lives

Aside from my get-paid-to blog income earner, I'm also into writing celebrity articles. I get paid $1 for every 150-word news article I submit. I've been doing this for 2 months already, and I'm pretty much versed about the lives of celebrities especially those of Angelina Jolie, Jessica Alba, and Scarlett Johansson. And that got me thinking, how does it feel to see your private life in the news? Or in the tabloids where everything is blown up out of proportions? Maybe it's funny, or irritating especially if it puts you in a bad light. Sometimes when there's no news about a celebrity, I get agitated and think, "Can't she do something exciting??" Yeah, I've become a "consumer" of celebrities. I pray they'd do something stupid in public (Britney Spears is the queen!) so I can write a scathing article about it. Tsk! I've become a vulture preying on the "mistakes" of others. And thus, I promised myself, I should not become a celebrity and risk exposure of my private life. Hahaha! Tough luck on my becoming a celebrity, lol! :p

what do the autobots and decepticons eat??

Poster_transformers_new1 If you don’t know what the title is about, you definitely do not belong to my generation! Ahihi! OR you’re not a moviegoer and thus never heard of TRANSFORMERS the movie where these two classes of being star. Tsk, poor you! You’re missing a lot, I tell you. And I will tell you what you’re missing as you read on and scroll down :p Since this is a food blog, I must relate the spectacular robots movie to food, hence the title. Ahihi! And I promise to try to answer THE question before this post ends =) The picture at left is the symbol of the Decepticons.
.
Transformers
opened last Wednesday here in Davao City though I heard that it just opened last July 4 in the US of A, supposedly in time for their Independence Day. I haven’t got the figures yet whether this cartoon adaptation is another summer blockbuster like Pirates 3 and Spidey 3. It is now on its second week here in Davao and as you might have guessed, I watched it yesterday hence this post today o_O Anyway, Transformers is far from being a perfect movie or even just a great movie like Spidey 2 (the best in the trilogy I must say!) which perfectly meshed CGI wonders with well-developed characters and plot. BUT Transformers has the BEST-EVER CGIs I have ever seen in my entire life!!! It was sooo clean, sooo detailed (you can see reflections in the metal parts!), soooPoster_transformers_new2 perfectly integrated into the “live” environment and people. And man, even the sounds while the robots transform or when they communicate is perfect! The special effects team had it down to the last music note. This might sound like cliché’ but you really have to watch the movie to see and hear what I’m describing. Even just for effects, your money would be worth it!
.
Aside from the take-your-breath-away CGI, the movie is also funny. Really! As in adult humor funny (“Sam’s happy time”, “I love women to work on my engine”) with lots of PG-13 sexual innuendoes and geeky funny with nerd inside jokes. These moments are expertly woven into the movie for the right-on-target comic relief. This movie is really for entertainment purposes with a somewhat pro-US flavor (USA = saviors of the world; Russia, China and Nokor = enemies). There are lots of chases, explosions, loud music, dramatic cinematography, cool war machines, and best of all 5 Autobots and 6 Decepticons battling it out for Allspark!!! Man, the way they transform (even when fighting!) was really awe-inspiring. Simply perfect! (I really can’t stop noh??) But I guess I shouldn’t be surprised since the CGIs were done by LucasFilm’s Industrial Light and Magic. You know, the team who did Starwars, d’oh! :p I must admit I watched the movie twice in one seating. I just couldn’t get enough! Transformers is like the movie version of the pink eye-candy stuff I just couldn’t resist, ahihi! =)

.

And one last thing, Peter Cullen as the voice of Optimus Prime is a casting coup! HE is Optimus Prime, hands down and no questions asked. His authoritative, gravelly, fatherly voice is simply perfect. Woohoo! And by the way, Megatron (Prime’s archenemy) is voiced by Hugo Weaving (he’s V in Vendetta and Mr. Smith in The Matrix) who really sound sinister and scary. And Starscreamnow, the REAL last thing: I loved Starscreem’s tranformation the most – from land to air and back as robot to stealth plane, man, AMAZING! You really must see the movie, like, right now so you can also drool over the astounding effects. If you miss this movie, you’re missing one of the milestones in the CGI history. So shoo and go watch this movie now!

P.S. I really don’t know what the Transformers eat.. They pee lubricants so they must eat/drink lubricants too right?? Watchatink?
