sports that I play

Yes, I do play sports – if required that is. Hehe! =) Our Physical Education (PE) class in college is very cool. We were able to able to choose what PE courses to take after taking the required PE1 and PE2, which are mostly lectures. Anyway, the choices ranged from swimming to dancing (Jazz, Folkdance, Tap dancing, etc) to numerous sports (volleyball, badminton, soccer, etc). I don’t like swimming coz I don’t like to have sunburn and the smell of chlorine on me during weekends. I can’t dance to save my life so dancing was out. Though I was forced to take Folk dancing (Tinikling) one semester coz that’s the only PE class that fit into my schedule. In fairness, I passed with flying colors, hehe! =) But that PE class wasn’t the most memorable for me – it was when I took up soccer in my third year.
.
I enjoyed playing soccer so much coz of its physical aspect. Imagine running back and forth between the two goals separated by almost 500m of green grass (we had a smaller field). Add to that the fact you have to guard the ball and tried to score. I tell you, if there’s one thing that’d workout your whole body, it would be soccer! Man, after each session, my sides and legs would be aching from exertion. Playing soccer was definitely, absolutely worth it! =) My dream sports, however, is playing with horses and riding on them (with saddles of course). Yeah, I wanted to be an equestrian!!! Hehe!

North Face

What’s with North Face outdoor gear? It seems that every nature-lover I’ve talked to is in love with its products! I know it’s a brand but why is it so popular? It even claims to be the MOST famous name in the realm of outdoor gear! Well, maybe it is. Coz even my lil cousin of about 9 years old is asking for North Face jackets this coming Christmas! Yeah, believe it or not *shakes head* And he isn’t even remotely interested in outdoorsy stuff. I feel he heard the North Face name from his much-older school friends who are into mountaineering.
.
Anyway, my interest was piqued so out I went online hunting about North Face. It was apparently started by two outdoor enthusiasts during America's "Back to Nature and Free Love" period (the 60s), and their very first product was the hiking backpacks. The company has since branched out to men's and women's jackets, clothing, sleeping bags and tents (but I don't think they make golf bags!). Of course, the product that started it all has undergone hi-tech changes. You can expect high quality and serious performance from all North Face apparel, whether you’re an amateur nature lover or a serious mountaineer. Still, I think it’s too early for my cousin to have a North Face product. I mean, whatever for??

male bonding and golf

My father is a golf nut. But I think he was into it at first because of his work. Apparently, golf is the “in” thing among executives, lol! Then I think my father began to appreciate the sport to the point he already loved it -- so much in fact that Papa began teaching my two brothers the so-called gentleman’s sport. Every time we had a chance to go on vacation, we would go somewhere that has a golf course or even just a tee range. There, Papa taught my brothers the importance of having a perfect golf swing and the need to concentrate. Unfortunately for him, my bros weren’t into golf as he is. I don’t know if Papa was disappointed about their lack of interest, but here’s my two cents: so much for male bonding, lol!

hole in one!

I was browsing through my dad’s golf magazines out of boredom when I stumbled upon an article on golf balls and different golf carts. By rule, my dad doesn’t ride one out in the green so he can have exercise as he walks from one hole to another. Anyway the article was telling golf fanatics how to service golf cart parts in case something breaks down. It was a good read but I’d rather that my dad keeps on walking. Hehe!

The People's Champ!

Pacquiao
Manny Pacquiao wins over Marco Antonio Barrera again! I'm sure Filipinos all over the world are celebrating right now :-) It was a one-sided fight, with Pacman as the aggressor and Barrera just trying to survive; he was nearly knocked out in round 11 though.Ü Sorry for the low quality of this pic, its just a tv screen capture via my SE k800i camfon. Anyway, gonna watch Pacman's funny interviews here so tata for now! And MABUHAY ANG PILIPINAS!Ü

Papa's turn!

In my previous my blog post, I shared the Christmas gift I plan to buy for my mother. I’m not afraid to shout it in the world wide web coz Mama is not internet-savvy. There is no way in the world she’d be able to see the gorgeous pink bag I posted, hehe! Anyway, it’s my father’s turn now. Papa is an avid golf enthusiast and won several Shell (his company) golf tournaments he entered. He has a complete set golf set already so I won’t buy him more golf clubs and golf balls. What I plan to buy him is a Titleist golf bag, the Stand and Carry model. That way, Papa won’t have a hard time carrying and balancing his ancient golf bag. As far as I can remember, it’s the same golf bag since I was in high school – and that’s over 10 years ago! Imagine?? Lol! So, I guess this means I’m getting bags for both Ma and Pa this Christmas.. =)
