game talk ;-)

In my other blog (Issa’s Dollar Earners), I always post the latest happenings in the world of Apple and Mac. I’m an Apple fangirl but the truth is, I’ve never bought anything made from them. Lol! Also, I haven’t made the switch from PC to Mac. Why? Because my tech-savvy brothers say its hard to find Mac games and applications that will run smoothly. But that was then, when other Mac fanatics did not share their work to other Mac users; now’s a different story. Recently I searched the web, and lo! I see loads of FREE Mac games! Yes! So, am I gonna switch now? Hmmm, let me find more free Mac apps then I’d consider the switch more seriously. Abangan! =)

attention RUGBY fanatics!

If you’re looking for a comprehensive website about Europe's premier international rugby tournament (that’s the six nations championship!) then you’ve come to the right blog post! Presenting the RBS 6 Nations website! They provide a wide-ranging list of tournament news, fixtures and results. They also offer interactive games and podcasts for six nations fans. You want to see the rugby dream team? It’s here! By the way, the six nations is composed of the countries of England, France, Ireland, Italy, Scotland and Wales.
.
For those unfamiliar with rugby, this is the game that originated American and Canadian football. Rugby football, often just "rugby", may refer to a number of sports descended from a common form of football developed at Rugby School in England, United Kingdom. Rugby league and rugby union are the only two sports referred to as "rugby" today. In the U.K, an old saying goes "football is a gentleman's game played by thugs and rugby is a game for thugs played by gentlemen".

ONLINE BACKGAMMON!

I must admit I'm not much into board games except for chess so backgammon is relatively new to me. And I was kinda surprised it's really popular, coz if it's not, would there even be a backgammon online version? I think not! For those like me who is not familiar with backgammon, here's a brief description from Wikipedia:

Backgammon is a board game for two players in which checkers (also called pieces, stones, men, counters, pawns or chips) are moved after each roll of the dice. A player wins by removing all of his checkers from the board. As the playing time for each individual game is short, it is often played in matches, where victory is awarded to the first player to reach a certain number of points.

So far, the online backgammon I've tried is the one in Mister Gammon. Just download their software and get ready to play against backgammon players worldwide. If you think you're really good, join the tournaments. So, shall I see you there?? =)

P.S. Where's the best online store to buy golf bags? Need it by Christmas! =)

Why go all the way to Las Vegas, Nevada (and other gambling spots) when you can play all you want in online casinos from the comforts of your own home? The only problem is finding a trustworthy online casino gambling company with the best odds for players. According to an online casino reviews website, there are more than 3000 online casinos right now! Can you imagine filtering through 3000 sites just to find the best online casino for you?? Today’s the day!!!

In just a few hours, Manny Pacquiao from the Philippines will battle Marco Antonio Barrera of Mexico in a 12-round boxing clash where Pacquiao defends his WBC International super featherweight title against Barrera at the 12,000-capacity Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Pacquiao-Barrera showdown is the highly-anticipated rematch of their Nov. 15, 2003 battle won by Pacquiao in an 11th-round rout that had Barrera’s camp claiming distractions which contributed to their champion's loss. Anyway, I was curious about Barrera (I already know a lot about Pacquiao, being a fellow Filipino) so I made a quick search about him.
.
There was almost nothing about his personal life on the internet, save for the info that he was born in Mexico City in January 17, 1974. I was bored so I just browsed through Mexican websites and I was struck by what Mexico can offer. Much like my country, they have a rich cultural heritage. Mexico also boasts of natural wonders. Their mountain ranges and beaches are gorgeous! Especially the ones in the Riviera Maya. Imagine getting married like this:

Simply heaven! =) This photo, by the way, is from Karisma Hotels and Resorts. They have many resorts in Mexico that caters to different people. They even have a beach club for nudists! Lol! Karisma also offers all-inclusive Mexico Vacation, wedding and honeymoon packages. Visit their site and drool over their gorgeous photos! =)

Also, I haven’t made the switch from PC to Mac. Why? Because my tech-savvy brothers say its hard to find Mac games and applications that will run correctly. But that was then, when other Mac fanatics did not share their work to other Mac users; now’s a different story. Recently I searched the web, and lo! I saw loads of free Mac games! Yes! my college sports

Yeah I know, this is my third college post within the day. Lol! And yes, I do play sports – if required that is. Hehe! =) Our Physical Education (PE) class in college is very cool. We were able to able to choose what PE courses to take after taking the required PE1 and PE2, which are mostly lectures. Anyway, the choices ranged from swimming to dancing (Jazz, Folkdance, Tap dancing, etc) to numerous sports (volleyball, badminton, soccer, etc). I don’t like swimming coz I don’t like to have sunburn and the smell of chlorine on me during weekends. I can’t dance to save my life so dancing was out. Though I was forced to take Folk dancing (Tinikling) one semester coz that’s the only PE class that fit into my schedule. In fairness, I passed with flying colors, hehe! =) But that PE class wasn’t the most memorable for me – it was when I took up soccer in my third year.
.
I enjoyed playing soccer so much coz of its physical aspect. Imagine running back and forth between the two soccer goals separated by almost 500m of green grass (we had a smaller field). Add to that the fact you have to guard the ball and tried to score. I tell you, if there’s one thing that’d workout your whole body, it would be soccer! Man, after each session, my sides and legs would be aching from exertion. And to top everything, we still have Biochem classes after! My PE playmates would enter the class stinking with sweat and with haggard faces. Lol! But playing soccer was definitely, absolutely worth it!

ready for Halloween??

I know there’s still more than a month before Halloween rolls in, but like Christmas, there’s this shopping rush that comes along with it. So will you until the last minute to buy the coolest halloween costume and candies for trick or treat?? Tsk, bad mommy! Lol! Anyway, you shouldn’t wait til the last minute! Right now, you should start planning what your kids will wear for Halloween, or ask them what they want. Kids these days have lots of creative costume ideas that swirl in their minds. You can learn a thing or two from them. Yeah, I know, we all learn from kids =)
.
When I was young, we didn’t have trick or treat and Halloween parties. Halloween used to be a solemn time for adults and a “scary” time for children. And we don’t even call it Halloween! We called it “bisperas sa araw ng mga santo”. That translates to “the day before All Saints’ Day”. But due to the rapid westernization of our country, Halloween tradition soon became a part of our modern culture. We saw the emergence of trick or treat in high-class subdivisions, and later, halloween costume parties in the mainstream populace. And I must admit, I’m enjoying it! Tara, let’s go shopping for scary costumes na!

Poker Mania!

Would you believe that the number one search term for the past few weeks is POKER?? Yep, it’s true! It even bested Vanessa Hudgens’ nude photo scandal, which was the second most-searched item. I can’t imagine a non-sexual term winning over the photo of The High School Musical’s lead actress in her naked glory, lol! Poker topping the search list (via Lycos 50) had me thinking what makes poker hot. After much searching, I found out it was because of a guy winning a multi-million dollar poker tournament. Since that event, many people were trying their luck in playing poker, both offline and online. Of course, all in the hopes of winning some million dollar pot.
.
I would like to play (I’m always looking for online income earners) poker too but card games don’t suit me at all. But my poker search wasn’t to no good coz I discovered that in real life high-class poker, players use exquisite poker tables! Yeah, there are such things as poker tables and other furniture. And I’m sure, poker furniture makers and retailers are also cashing in from the current poker mania that gripped the world! Nothing bad about that though. We are all trying to make a living here, whether it be by playing poker or by supplying hotel and gambling chains with gorgeous poker furniture... =)

NFL costumes!

Days earlier, I posted about getting your shopping done for you and your kids’ halloween costumes coz Halloween’s coming right up the corner. I said that it’s now passé to just wear a scary costume, and that the trend these days is to dress up as uniquely as you can. I suggested dressing up your baby boys in your favorite NFL team’s jersey so they’d look cute and manly at the same time. Hehe! One reader told me she had no favorite NFL team so she asked me what’s the best team jersey to wear. My advice? The orange and black Cincinnati Bengals uniform!

I picked the team based on colors alone coz the team’s jersey colors were classic Halloween hues – orange and black! Plus, the Bengal tiger logo is scary enough to be part of the Halloween frightfest, lol! The jersey also comes with a matching helmet with foam padding, face mask, and adjustable chin straps. As I said, your kid will look adorable in it! Maybe you could dress up your hubby in the same uniform while you wear the matching cheerleader uniform. Hehe! I bet you’d be the best-dressed family in your village’s halloween costume party. Way cool! =)

September 15, 2007

halloween's coming!!

In less than six weeks, Halloween will be here! Time for the popular trick or treat! Actually, in our country, Halloween used to be a solemn time for adults and a “scary” time for children. Unlike in western countries, we don’t have trick or treat and Halloween parties back then. Our families would usually go home to their hometowns and honor their dead. The children will be regaled with ghost stories and other tales about night creatures. We would watch the scary TV specials and try to sleep early to avoid the monsters. Hehe! But during the late 90s, the western culture finally invaded the Filipinos’ Hallow’s Eve. We saw the emergence of trick or treat in high-class subdivisions, and later, Halloween parties in the mainstream populace.
.
So now, when September rolls around, kids get excited to shop for the coolest halloween costume to wear =) And it’s now passé to just wear a scary costume, the trend these days is to dress up as uniquely as you can! Some dress up like Paris Hilton (complete with a toy dog) while others wear the jerseys of their favorite sports team. Have you imagined your baby boy wearing your favorite NFL team’s jersey?? I bet he’d look cute in it! And “manly” at the same time, lol! As for me, you can be sure I’ll be in pink. Perhaps a pink fairy godmother or a blond cheerleader in pink cutie cheering uniform =)

September 13, 2007

games, games, games! =)

People close to me know that I am super addicted to computer games! Whether it be online or offline. My favorite game of all time is The Sims, a simulation game wherein you’re able to control your characters, manage their lives and build houses. Perfect for OCs like me, hehe! I’m sure you’ve heard of this great game already. After all, it’s the best-selling PC game of all time =) My addiction to PC games started when I was in Grade 4 when we had our very first computer. We played Tetris, Prince of Persia, Family Feud, Carmen San Diego, and chess on it. We can’t play chess online then as the internet only came into my life during high school. And take note, all the games I’ve mentioned we’re still in 2D and mostly in grayscale! Talk about primitive, hehe!
.
Anyway, one of my BFFs recently got a laptop and she’s been hankering to play some games as her form of relaxation. I offered to download games for her since we have unlimited Internet access at home. I searched the internet and man, there are so many choices out there! I don’t know what to download for her. Would she like free online games (in case she’s in a wifi area) or just offline games like Diner Dash and Mystery Case Files? So many choices, really.. How about you guys? What are your favorite games and what can you recommend for my BFF? Just “simple” games ha! No Ragnarok, RF Online, and other games like that :p
