reposted update on our lives ^_^

On the wedding plans: Not much happening, hehe! We have booked the church (St. Francis Parish), almost all hotels in Davao (hahaha!) for the wedding reception, the florist (c/o Sophia's Spring Flowers), and wedding planner (Events by Ria) months ago. The GOOD news: almost all the legal and church paperwork are done. We'll get our marriage license on June 24, yippee! =) We finished the Pre-Cana seminar too! For all the how-tos on wedding paperwork, visit our wedding blog at Solito-Elbanbuena.info -- so much hassle if you do it yourself like we did! Whew! The BAD news: I still don't have a wedding gown (got gowns for the entourage already) and Labsie doesn't have a tuxedo yet. We are badly in need of an affordable tailor!!! If you know one, please let me know. Thanks!

On my Physician Licensure Exam review: aka medical board exam review, hehe! I ditched the review given by our school and instead just went on self-review. I am on my 9th subject (3 more to go, mostly clinical subjects) with 3 weeks to go. Migod!!! And here I am blogging!!! o_O Exams will be on August 9-10, 16-17. If you're a prayerful person, please pray that I'll pass (so that I may serve the Filipino people already, hehe) and also all the other examiners. As they say, studying is nothing if prayers are lacking.. We need prayers guys! Libre checkup, promise! Hehe!

On Labsie: aka my fiance' =) He's a tech trainer already!! Whee!! He applied for the position when their company announced an internal hiring thinking he'll get a regular work schedule. He previously worked the 2am shift for more than 6 months so when an 8am-5pm job opened, he grabbed the chance. Unfortunately, being a tech trainer does NOT mean having a regular sked at all =( At times he had to work for more than 12 hours (from 430am to 5pm) coz he's the only trainer with the new skills that has to be disseminated to the rest of the workforce. Poor Labsie! I just hope his sked will become regular before it takes a toll on his health. With the rainy weather we have plus his lack of sleep and long work hours.. Sigh

FREE WIFI ON US!

Then visit me in the mountains of Mintal! Hehe! Coz finally, our home is a wifi zone! Yes!!! Above is the wireless router that my brother in Manila got for us. We already have an unlimited DSL connection for about 6 years now, and having wifi access is definitely the next step. So friends, next time you visit me, bring your wifi-ready laptops. O di ba sosyal Chin?? You won’t just play games on your laptop while you’re here, you can access the internet na rin! Hehe! =) Next up is to install KVM switches and stuff. Yeah!

cat6, cat5, hdmi, whaaattt??

If you're not a tech person, then chances are you'd think that Cat6 is a type of cat-- you know, that feline furry animal. Hehe! But no, Cat6 is a cable standard for Gigabit Ethernet and other network protocols that is backward compatible with the Category 5/5e and Category 3 cable standards. Cat6 features more stringent specifications for crosstalk and system noise. The cable standard provides performance of up to 250 MHz and is suitable for 10BASE-T / 100BASE-TX and 1000BASE-T (Gigabit Ethernet). Neat huh?? =) Anyhoo, I won't be needing this product, I just read about it on a tech blog. Thought I'd just share it with you all! Next up are HDMI wall plate, hehe! ^_^

who wants a PS3??

I want one! And a Wii plus Xbox 360! LOL! I can't wait for my board exam and our wedding to be done with so I can start saving for leisure gadgets. Hehe! The best part is, there are so mannnnny games to choose from these days (not only in playstation 3 and other video consoles) but also for PC and handheld video game devices (DS, PSP). An even better news? The Sims 3 will be out in 2009!!! I'm a Sims 1 addict (who isn't??) and I can't believe Sims 3 will be released so soon after Sims 2. Not to mention that The Sims series is available in all platforms now. Yup, it's not only in PC anymore! Gaming time! =)

wanna work in Boston?

Then you ought to submit your resumes to BostonJobSite.com! With the advent of Internet, submitting resumes and getting a job that matches your educational attainment and skills has never been easier. Just leave it to online job sites like these to match you with the best employer that fits you to a T. Remember, if you have Boston resumes to submit, go to BostonJobSite.com -- good luck! =)

babies galore!

We've just recently been to Kidapawan for my maternal grandmother's birthday celebration last July 19, and two surprising news awaited our clan -- two of my female cousins are pregnant! One cousin is older than me by four years (the eldest among the female cousins) while the other was younger by five years. It was the second child (5 months) for the older one while it was the first for the younger one (first trimester). For sure they're gonna need lots of disposable diapers come next year! Hehe! To Ate Leslie and Joy-Joy, I hope that you're gonna be the best mothers you can be for your babies. Motherhood is one heck of a job so God bless! ^_^

allergic rhinitis

I have been reviewing ENT (ear, nose, throat) the past 2 days and was amazed at the many different kinds of rhinitis. But of course, I was far more interested with allergic rhinitis as my father and two brothers suffer from it. Thank god I was spared from inheriting the defective gene that causes it, hehe! Anyway, I stumbled on a site that sells humidifiers (go see Santa Fe dehumidifiers) which reportedly will decrease the incidence of allergy attacks at home. Gonna have to tell my father about this one!

eat in moderation!!!

Humans have this tendency to not take care of their body when it's good and new. They overeat and fail to exercise regularly. And when they grow fat and slow, they take crash diets and pills to drastically slim down. Whatever happened to eat in moderation and exercise 3-4x a week by walking? It's not so hard to do right? If you're an Internet surfer, you'd notice that sites offering diet pill reviews are very popular. Humans indulge in whatever they want to eat then if they want to slim down already, they just pop a pill (is it safe??). A body can only take so much abuse -- and I hope you're not one of the abusers!

the deal on payday loans

I’ve been writing about payday loans but it seemed that most of you are not acquainted with what it is. A payday loan or payday advance is a small, unsecured short-term loan ranging from $100 to $1,000 (depending on the state) offered by a payday lender. A payday loan is typically used as a cash advance until your next payday. It will help cover unexpected expenses that come up between paydays and will solve temporary cash-flow problems without bouncing a check or incurring late payment penalties. The reason you might not have heard of this is because this type of loan is not offered by banks, mortgage lenders, or other financial institutions.

Unlike these institutions, getting a loan from a reputable payday lender is easy; there is no credit check or waiting period. All you need is a photo ID, a current bank statement and proof of income. And that’s it! You receive the money you badly need until the next payday rolls around. So, if you’re one of those in need of a quick fix without the hassle, try the payday lenders. My only advice? Make sure you read the fine print of their legal agreement or contract with you, okay?? Coz I wouldn’t wanna see you in more financial trouble than you already are in. Good luck!

sports that I play

Yes, I do play sports – if required that is. Hehe! =) Our Physical Education (PE) class in college is very cool. We were able to able to choose what PE courses to take after taking the required PE1 and PE2, which are mostly lectures. Anyway, the choices ranged from swimming to dancing (Jazz, Folkdance, Tap dancing, etc) to numerous sports (volleyball, badminton, soccer, etc). I don’t like swimming coz I don’t like to have sunburn and the smell of chlorine on me during weekends. I can’t dance to save my life so dancing was out. Though I was forced to take Folk dancing (Tinikling) one semester coz that’s the only PE class that fit into my schedule. In fairness, I passed with flying colors, hehe! =) But that PE class wasn’t the most memorable for me – it was when I took up soccer in my third year.
.
I enjoyed playing soccer so much coz of its physical aspect. Imagine running back and forth between the two goals separated by almost 500m of green grass (we had a smaller field). Add to that the fact you have to guard the ball and tried to score. I tell you, if there’s one thing that’d workout your whole body, it would be soccer! Man, after each session, my sides and legs would be aching from exertion. Playing soccer was definitely, absolutely worth it! =) My dream sports, however, is playing with horses and riding on them (with saddles of course). Yeah, I wanted to be an equestrian!!! Hehe!

let's start mooching!

I love to read books of any kind. I'm always constantly looking for book bargains in bookshops and used-goods stores. I've used online buy&sell portals like davaosale.com and ebay.ph to buy hard-to-find books at cheaper prices. And so far, I've been more than satisfied with my finds! =) But as they say, the best things in life are free. That got me thinking, "Can I get a free book online??" The answer? A big YES!!! At first I just downloaded free ebooks on the internet, some of them pirated. LOL! But I persisted looking for that elusive free physical book. My search led me to BookMooch. And man, was I addicted! =)
.
Bookmooch
.
BookMooch works like a charity site. You give away your books to earn points and using your points, you can request or mooch a book you want from another user. Nice concept huh?? The site is very simple to use but features-packed unlike other book swapping sites which have become commercialized. And NO, this is not a sponsored post, lol! :p I'm writing this because I truly love their FREE service. I've been in BookMooch for more than a year and received 5 books already. One from SIngapore and four from the Philippines. Free ~ Free ~ Free, all free! What could be better than that?? So if you're a bookworm, join BookMooch now and let's start mooching Yup, they have children's books for your kiddos too! =)
